After the Second Opium War, Zhenjiang river was put into business as treaty port according to the Tianjin Treaty. British people claimed upper and lower areas of Yuantain along the river as British Leased Territories. There were three largest oil companies in the leased territories, which is Ya Xiya Oil Company, De Shigu Oil company and Meifu Oil Company. Three oil companys’ oil made up two-third oil sales. The former Ya Xiya Oil Company has been transformed into Zhenjiang Folk Culture and Art Museum now.
